Thank you for sharing with us the contact information of practitioners whom you are happy with.

What to do in Case of Emergencies

In case of life threatening emergencies call 112 for an ambulance, to call the police or in case of fire.
The Reinier de Graaf hospital in Delft has an emergency room for severe burns, fractures, heart
attacks, etc... You need to register at the counter.
A staff member will ask you questions in their waiting room to evaluate your needs to assign you a
priority code. Patients with higher priority needs get faster service even if they arrived after you.
It is recommended not to eat or drink while you wait in case tests must be run. Reinier de Graaf has
a Fast Track section where you can be seen by specialized nurses as opposed to a doctor.  For
emergencies which are less serious, it is best to contact your huisarts who can then send you to
the right department for your care if it is beyond their services. It's a good idea to carry your
huisarts' name and number and insurance card (or its photocopy)  with you at all times.

After Hours Medical Care

Huisenartspost in Delft responds to non-life threatening emergencies from 17h00 to 8h00
(in the evening, at night, on a holiday, at the weekend. Phone consultations are offered and in
serious cases visits can be arranged at a much higher fee. All consultations are charged at higher
rates than normal (see their " tarieven" page for more details.) If you click on their "apotheek" link
you will get the name and addresses of pharmacies open after hours for emergency medicine
       pickups for 2008.

First Aid

Domestic accidents are common, traumatizing, occasionally devastating. While we should
aim at preventing them they still occur, here are some fact sheets in English to deal calmly
with an emergency such as burns (the following links are in Dutch: Brandweer Delft,
      Oranje Kruis EHBO help).

Tina Keogh from Great Expectations in The Hague offers a first aid course for parents
of infants and children from 1 to 8 years of age in English.

Consider investing in a  first-aid box (such as those following recommendations by the
     Red Cross and Oranje Kruis).
They can be purchased at any local pharmacy (verband doos).

Do ask your friends, coworkers, neighbors as well before making a decision as it is hard to change
      huisarts.

Their team is multicultural and multilingual as well as child friendly. Their dentist Tolga Akarsu and dental hygienist
